SAD NEWS TO REPORT 

Al Urbanski died suddenly from a stroke on April 18^th.  Al was for more than ten years one of the best players in the B & C Divisions.  He was successful as a NIMAGA Cup member and had placed in the top five in prior Tournament of Winners events.  He was a genuine nice guy!  His enthusiasm for golf and NIMAGA will be missed. 

NIMAGA CUP

 The NIMAGA Cup will be held on Sunday, May 20^th.  The defending champs are the Championship Division.  Ken Miller, the championship captain was tuning his game at the recent April Spring Thaw.  He shot a smooth 99; however, he used the new Titleist Pro VI Ball.  We wonder what the score might have been with a lesser quality ball! 

GREAT RATE

 The Oak Club of Genoa, phone #815-784-5678 wants to let our group know that they have a MON-FRI rate for play – 6:30-8:30 tee times - $25.00 per player including a cart.  This rate is not available on Holidays.  Oak Club also has Twilight rate good for 7 days a week at 2:30 p.m. also for $25.00 per player which includes a cart.  Please tell any NIMAGA course you practice on that you are from NIMAGA. 

JOHN BRDECKA JOINS THE NIMAGA BOARD

 John has been a member for a few years and has stepped forward to assist our organization.  John and his wife Nadine and one son live in Downers Grove.  He owns a carpenter contracting company and a welding fabrication business.  His enthusiasm for golf and NIMAGA are greatly appreciated.

YEARLY REMINDERS 

Entry into NIMAGA events is by date “RECEIVED” not postmarked! Send in your entries early to be sure you are included in the events. 

There is a minimum scores rule in NIMAGA.  You must have turned in one score to Certified Golf to be fully eligible for the May event.  Read the brochure and turn in your scores. 

New members who have not completed the 5 scores and one tournament rule will find they are not fully eligible.  By the May 17^th revision which is used for the June tournament most asterisks should be gone. 

CORRECTION 

The Purple Entry Blank for the Freedom Open – July 8^th states “Saturday”.  The date is correct, but the event is “SUNDAY”.  Please fix your calendars. 

MEMBER GUEST EVENT

 The first NIMAGA Member Guest will be held on Monday, May 7^th at the Eagle Brook Country Club in Geneva.  The deadline for entry has passed, but we are happy to report that more than 80 players will be playing at this inaugural event.  If you play in the event please tell us about what you liked or disliked about the event.  If you were unable to play this year, please give us your comments about this new event. 

NEW MEMBERS NEEDED

 It’s still not too late to tell your friends about NIMAGA for the 2001 season.  Any board member can get you information to give to friends to play in our events from June to October.
