NIMAGA NOTES
|
EVERYONE PLEASE READ!
The
August tournament was played under the difficult conditions of
“Lightning” at all of the four tournament sites.
IF YOU THE PLAYER FEEL THREATENED BY LIGHTNING YOU MAY STOP PLAY
AND TAKE COVER AS YOU FEEL IT’S NECESSARY.
SLOW PLAY RULES ARE WAIVED! NO
ONE WILL BE PENALIZED! SAFETY FIRST!
At
the A & B Division sites, play was stopped by a number of the groups
on the course. It’s best to stop as a group, however, if you are the
only one who wishes to stop and take cover, you “may” do so. Do not expect the golf course to give good guidance as to
warnings, etc. You must take
charge of your own safety. TOURNAMENT OF WINNERS
September’s
tournament is your last chance to qualify for this year’s event – our
twenty third annual event. This
event is not open to first year members, however, October’s Two Man Best
Ball event can be your first chance to qualify for next year’s event. Previous winners who are still playing in NIMAGA are:
1980 Dick Gerasta, 1990 Bob Miller, 1991 Wally Svihula, 1992 Mel
Koenig, 1993 Al Urbanski, 1994 Willie Nelson, 1997 Brad Kunas and 1999
defending champion Brian Alberts. Mike
Sutton is the defending low gross champion.
If you are new to NIMAGA ask a past champion about their
experiences. This year’s
event will be held at the Golf Club of Illinois in Algonquin.
It’s a links style course with thick areas of rough, a 600 yard
par 5, a lot of wind and fast greens.
The top 50% of the field will make the cut to play on Sunday to try
to win one of the five trophies in the net division along with the trophy
for the overall low gross winner. |

SITE – WWW.NIMAGA.ORG A few members have complained about problems with
our web site. If you have a
5-10 year old computer you may experience problems.
There is a comment site on the web page to tell us your problem and
we will try to help you thru the problem.
Overall the web page has been excellent and we are pleased to see
everyone deal with the changes this year. WELCOME NEW MEMBERS
We usually do this in April, however, this
year a number of people have joined later in the year. Our organization has existed for forty years conducting
“tournaments” for the average public fee golfer. If you have any questions, please ask your tournament
director or any NIMAGA board member. AUGUST TOURNAMENT ‘C’ DIVISION
The event was reduced to a nine hole
tournament as the Prairie Bluff Golf Course was closed on Saturday and
play could not be finished on Sunday.
Everyone who was entered for the event receives a $45.00 credit if
they are a regular member or a $35.00 credit if they are a package member. Please note your credit on your next entry. |
