CHAMPION DIVISION TOURNAMENT SITE CHANGE!
A
last second change of the Championship Division site from Steeplechase to
Oak Club of Genoa has been made. The
Championship Division Two Man Best Ball event will follow the B Division
Tournament at the same site. DO
NOT GO TO STEEPLECHASE! MILWAUKEE CHALLENGE MATCH!
NIMAGA
was able to defeat MCPLA (Milwaukee County Public Links Association) 63 to
39 on September 23rd. Arnold
Walker, the MCPLA captain took the results of each match so the many
winners from NIMAGA will be noted in our final mailing. Ben Roman, our most senior player at 85 years young beat
Arnold Walker for the second year in a row.
This was the 25th annual event lead by NIMAGA team
captain Alan Johnson. Great
job Alan! Our only regret was
that a number of applications to play in the event had to be returned due
to the MCPLA teams reduced numbers. BOARD MEMBER CHANGES
Glen Smith and Ted Barkow will be leaving the
board after many years of service to our organization. The NIMAGA organization can only function thru the board
members like Glen and Ted who have donated many hours to NIMAGA.
Thank you Ted and Glen! FINAL MAILING/NIMAGA NOTES
The
final NIMAGA mailing will be done on November 10th.
We will include the final standings for the qualifiers for the
NIMAGA Cup. Please check the
NIMAGA notes of November 10th! |
NIMAGA
WEB SITE As we finish our first year with a web site, we must thank Scott Svihula, our web master along with Wally Svihula who has helped to direct the changes we have made this year. Year one was a learning process for many in this changing world of web access. If you do not have a computer at home or at work and have never seen the web site, do go to your local library and try to log on to WWW.NIMAGA.ORG There is a lot of good information on our web site and more to come for next year. A 25 YEAR RETROSPECTIVE
This October’s tournament marks the 25th anniversary of my first NIMAGA victory. It was then called the Final Fling. I was paired with Bob Miller who is now a championship player. I mention this because I believe NIMAGA is far more than a not for profit organization chartered to run tournaments for the average public fee golfer. All of my best golfing friends have been met thru NIMAGA. All of the people who I’ve been on golf trips with are NIMAGA friends. We have gone to Scotland, Ireland, England, Palm Springs, Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, Robert Trent Jones Trail, Callaway Gardens and other locations. When NIMAGA was founded more than forty years ago it was about the business of golf. Thru the guidance of many, I’m glad to say it’s also about friendship and I’m glad to be a part of it.
