LOOKING TO NEXT YEAR
The
NIMAGA Board just concluded the final meeting for 2000.
Plans for 2001 have been set and course selection is being
finalized. Changes for
regular events non package are: 1
- April and June event fee
raised to $50.00 2
- October event raised to
$65.00 3
- August 2 Day event raised
to $100.00 4
- May, July and September
events raised to $75.00 5
- Regular Membership fee is
$80 postmarked by 2/15/01,
$90 postmarked after 2/15/01 6
- Package Membership fee is
$435 postmarked by 2/15/01,
$450 postmarked after 2/15/01 7
- The deadline for
applications for 2001 membership
have been eliminated. 8
- The Tournament of
Winners will move it’s dates from
the last weekend of Sept. to late Aug. This
is being done to avoid the airation problem that
all Chicagoland courses start in late September. 9
- Seniors Event is planned
for Monday June 25 at the Highland
Park Golf Club. 10
- NEW EVENT FOR 2001! NIMAGA
will have a Member-Guest
event on Monday, May 7th
at the Eaglebrook
Country Club in Geneva.
Eaglebrook is a private country club only open
for limited outside play on Mondays.
We are actively seeking new
members for 2001! This is
a event that your guests can attend and learn
about NIMAGA. We hope
to sign up a few new members at
this tournament. It’s a
limited field so be sure to sign up
ASAP next year! 11
- In our ongoing effort to obtain new members,
NIMAGA will be more aggressive to try to get
our name out to the Chicagoland Market.
We continue to need your
help to let others know that
we provide a schedule of tournaments for
Chicagoland Public Fee Golfers. 12
- NIMAGA will participate in the 18th Annual Chicago Golf Show at the Rosemont Convention
Center on February 2,3 and 4th 2001.
Anyone who would
like to volunteer to “man” the booth should
contact Roger Scott at #630-483-4320. Illinois
PGA will participate in the
Chicago Golf Show as the
Arlington Heights/Navy Pier Shows will not take place this year.
The Chicago Golf
Show should be larger and better attended then ever. Mark you calendar now
to visit the show and NIMAGA at Booth #421. 13
– NIMAGA’s Mid-Week Tournament will be held
at the Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont.
It will be a 8:00 a.m.
shotgun start event at a cost of
$95.00 per player. Ruffled
Feathers is a Semi Private Course
with a $125.00 normal green fee. The
date to set for your calendar next
year is Monday, July 23rd. NIMAGA
CUP FINAL STANDINGS! The
top nine money winners in each division qualify to play in next years
NIMAGA CUP. It will be held
on Sunday, May 20th at the Tamarack Golf Club.
The Defending Champion is the Championship Division so we will see
if they can do it again. The

TOURNAMENT OF WINNERS 2000
The
challenging Golf Club of Illinois was the site for this year’s annual
event. The first day was cool
and windy, however, the real challenge was the greens as a recent airation
and oversanding made for difficulty on all putts especially the two
footers. Day two saw similar
conditions, but some of NIMAGA’s finest golfers were able to overcome
these challenges. Low

was won by Reggie Huff– 152 Low
Net
was won by Scott Windisch, 174 Gross,
140 Net 2nd
Doug Peters, 171 Gross, 141 Net 3rd

a three hole playoff with Pete Vercillo). NEW BOARD MEMBERS FOR 2001
The
NIMAGA Board has elected Brian Alberts and John Brdecka to fill the
vacancies created when Ted Barkow and Glen Smith left the board.
Brian’s and John’s interest and enthusiasm to assist NIMAGA is
appreciated. NIMAGA WINS THE 2000 CHALLENGE MATCH
The
25th annual Challenge Match between members of the Northern
Illinois Men’s Amateur Golf Association and the Milwaukee County Public
Links Association was held at Evergreen Golf Club in Elkhorn, Wisconsin on
Saturday, September 23, 2000. NIMAGA
won the match play event 63 points to 39 points. NIMAGA leads the Challenge Match series with 15 wins, 8
losses and 2 ties. NIMAGA
players who won all three possible points in their matches were Brian
Alberts, Ted Barkow, Nick Di
Cosola, Tom Gearhart, Carl Janas, John Lemm, Russ Prince, Ben Roman, Val
Russell, Glen Smith and Al Urbanski.
